An Introduction

This will be a place where I will post things that I find interesting about work, life and tech in general.

I am a Linux enthusiast and have converted every machine at home except for one to Linux. I have been in the IT field for 43 years covering a range of roles from junior dev, senior dev, team lead, project lead, system architect, support person and business analyst. I also am a moderately talented amateur photographer (in my not so humble opinion).

I work in or have worked in/with:

  • Linux
  • UNIX (just the basics here)
  • Z/VSE
  • Z/OS
  • DOS – All flavours from around 1.00 to 6
  • Windows – All flavours from WIN1 to WIN11
  • Assembler
  • APL
  • AWK
  • Basic
  • BASH
  • C
  • CLIST
  • COBOL
  • JCL – VSE & Z/OS
  • Pascal
  • Perl (just started learning)
  • PL/1
  • REXX
  • Rust (just started learning)
  • IDMS (user and DBA)
  • DB/2 (user, not DBA)
  • VSAM

The reason for choosing the ‘101’ is twofold.

  • 101 is a message for web pages – Switching protocols
  • 101 is also a shortcut I use when doing introduction SOPs and how-to-do.
